In 1 or 2 years from now, I think I will stop photo covering Fashion weeks, from Paris to New York. Why ? Photographers of course !! The increasing amount of photographers killed what made me love to reveal during these Fashion Weeks : LIFE, in its natural aspect. You could argue that I still succeed to capture beautiful moments of life with happiness, love, smiles, laughs, friendship… and you’ll be right. But it became too hard for me. Because of some bad behaviors from so many photographers, the energies are not as positive as formely any more. People from fashion can’t walk normally any more, they are literally chased by photographers, that now became more paparazzi. And I don’t like that.
To illustrate what I am talking about, let me use this story with the adorable Stephanie Lacava. I like her, very much, even if we are not that close friends. Unfortunately my english is not fluent enough to sustain great conversations with people. I regret it but it is not a core condition for me to honor people. Stephanie Lacava is not for just a stylish woman. She is like a child, a child who loves to be surrounded by friends and laugh with them (remember Paris fashion week), a child who sometime needs to be warmed (remember New York Fashion week)… You can’t fake these moments cause their are meant to be unique, ephemeral. And that’s because you can’t fake these moments, that’s life is beautiful. I never make people pose. If it happens, the pose would be artistic or fun in a sense that it would always reveal the person’s nice personality.
I will stop photo covering Fashion weeks cause Fashion weeks “life”, “salt”, “magic”, “glamor” has gone. People from fashion can’t walk and talk with their friends without being stopped by photographers every 10 seconds. They can’t live normally . They are just considered as coat racks. And I don’t like that. It will still be possible to take great pictures technically speaking, but at what price ? I don’t want to rush into people and put my camera at 30 cm of their faces just to have my picture. RESPECT is the core value of Style and the City. And God if exists, understands and shares this value. Cause he will always create unexpected circumstance like a car in the middle of the street that would make Stephanie Lacava run like an happy child. And of course, in front of my lens (In fact I anticipated the situation, lol)
I wish you a great day my friends. Don’t forget to share and hopefully like this story and these thoughts. Happiness deserves to be share !
