Oct 04, 2007 – 5.46 pm, Jardin des Tuileries – Paris Fashion week. DIOR.
It’s my first Paris fashion weel attendency. I just quit a french female magazines few months ago to follow my heart : doing photography. Wich kind ? I didn’t know yet. A friend lent me a camera and I told to myself : “Let’s attend the Paris Fashion Week as fashion is something I never pay much attention to.” I need challenges in my life to feel alive. I didn’t know anybody at all from the fashion industry and media. I was a new comer, a baby. I never took any pictures in my life before that. And the camera I had was my firt digital camera : houch !
At Jardins des Tuileries, I saw photographers making people pose : weird. There is so much life around… As I came from TV directing and comedy, I couldn’t help myself to make people and especially women laugh. Their smiles give me faith. I knew I was into something, but I couldn’t figure out what exactly. And then I met the amazing Anna Piaggi. She was leaving DIOR fashion show. I immedately loved her, loved her excentricity, because her excenticity was showing to the world how FREE she was.
At Jardins des Tuileries some workers were building a big firework construction for french “national 14 juillet” celebration. They were dirty but so cool. They looked like pirates. As Anna Piaggi was reaching the exit, she came close to my “Pirates”. I asked her if I could take pictures of her with my new friends. As she was certainly a important person from the fashion world, I was afraid that she would feel offended. But not at all. She immediatly loved the idea. And what was even greater is that she started to make friendship with the pirates. FREE and GENEROUS : that was how Anna Piaggi was. BE DIFFERENT and never be afraid to try, to take risks : that’s the lesson she taught me that day. I never took any pictures before but that day, I did my best to honour this great person.
Photographers were taking steady pictures : I will do the opposite ! I will take in picture LIFE as it comes to me. I will capture and reveal people and women’s natural charm, I will surprise them cause I want life to surprise me. For the worst and for the best. THANK YOU VERY MUCH Anna Piaggi for your freedom, for the freedom you spread in this fashion world. You left, but you’ll always be in my heart cause you showed me the way…[Not a valid template]
