Ps : thank you very much for your nice messages about my knee injury. I went to hospital this week end for and MRI. The meniscus is safe. I have a ligament tearing came out from nowhere (I was just walking on the street when it happened). Doctor told it will cicatrize by itself within 10 days. I am relieved, I was afraid to go through surgery.
Paris Fashion Week – jan. 10, 2013. Jardin des Tuileries, after Dior fashion show.
It was cold cold and swnowing that day my friends. I don’ like cold, but snow, I just lovin’ it ! Why ? Because snow and white landscapes add poetry in my pictures. When I see what street style photography has become, a big circus where photographers behave like greed paparazzi, I prefere to stay appart from that. God, if exists, in his great wisdom gave me 2 eyes and an heart to see the world like he wanted me to see it. It would have been a shame to not use them properly. My eyes see life like a succession of paintings. My heart sees people throught the lense of love and poetry. My desire : to offer them beautiful “postcards”.
Style is just the cloth of our personality. Anybody can take a picture of a style. It’s easy = uncreative = boring. For me, street style photography has become the lowest kind of photography that exists now. Every body who has a camera wants to do street style now. 90% of the others are just stealing and copying. Check out blogs, magazines, websites : they all have the same pictures. The picture is not flatering ? Who cares !
It’s sad because if you do street style photography to learn the art of humanist photography, if you see life throught the lense of its natural beauty, if you see people throught the lense of love, a brand new universe will appear to you. I call it ‘the “Gracious hidden side of Life”. It’s there, in front of your eyes. But greed is blinding you. It was there as Harry and Peter Brand where leaving the Dior fashion show in Paris. Street style photographers were taking them in pictures for their style and I was sad because I could see more than that. Stylish : yes, Harry and Peter are. Everybody knows it and anybody can see it. It’s so obvious that it’s boring for me to focus on their style.
As I try as much as possible to create nice “postcards” to stay different from other street style photographers, the background of my pictures are as important as my models. My models can be very stylish, if I know I can’t offer them a great “postcard”, I will not take the picture. Therefore, I just asked Harry and Peter to move from the crowd in order to have a better background. I wanted to flee the photographers. also. Unfortunately, they followed me, as usual. I just hope that someday et street style photographers will understand that there is more happiness in creating than stealing and copying. Less money too but more happiness. LOL.
I saw several times Peter and Harry Brand attending fashion weeks. But I never rushed into them to take their pictures. If I know I can’t take and offer great pictures, I just use my time for a wiser purpose : I analyze people. I watch the way people, men, women walk, the way they move, the way they interact to each other. These physical and social elements are very important for the humanist photographer because they will help him to see where grace lies. And when the moment comes, he knows what to do, what to tell, what is the best angles, the right moments because in this world of greed street style photography I just have 2 to 10 seconds no more, before photographers rush behind my back and screw the “connexion” I have with my models, and as a consequence, my pictures. But God if exists, always do his best to help me to capture life and people’s natural beauty and grace. And I hope he will still help me.
