Dear readers and fans, I hope that you had or gonna have a great day. In fact, to be honest, I hope you will have the day you deserve. And if you think you had a bad day, think twice. Bad situations are great situations to learn about yourself and improve your personality, skills. There is a correlation between what we “put” into the univers and what the univers give us back. If you don’t believe in that, I do believe because after the storms I went troughout my life, I can see when I bounced back more skilled and when I sucked.
Here’s a recent exemple about what I mean. As I reported it regularly on Style and the City, the amoung of street style photographer is skyrocking, fashion week after fashion week, making the locations almost impossible to walk through normaly. Photographers are litterally chasing every stylish women and men entering their field of vision. The greed behaviours of too many of them makes it almost impossible for a humanist street style photographer to take a candid picture anymore. If 2 friends are peacefully talking, they stop them and “force” them to pose. If they see me starting a discreet photo shoot, they come after me and screw the moment. I just have 5-10 seconds to find the moment, where to take position, understand the situation in order to tell a story in addition to find the right angles to give you a feeling of what’s happening. It’s crazy and very difficult believe me.
How do I handle the situation ? After cursing the photographer the first day, after a good night and sweat dreams (I don’t know why, they are quite nice these days. In most of them I am a super heor, lol), I come back with a new photographic angle : showing you how crazy the fashion week became. Concretely, I focuse on specific situations and not specific persons and styles. The person can be very popular : it doesn’t matter. If I can’t take a great pictures that will tell a story and reveal her natural beauty, kindness, I don’t take the picture. For example, the background must tell a story that will reveal the personality of the person. And because I love women and their body, I add a filter : GLAMOUR. And I think you will like this filter, isn’t it Leelee Sobieski.
Another series of pictures to illustrate what I am saying. I’ve taken a lot of pictures of Miroslava Duma, Elena Perminova, Xenia Soloveiva, Olivia Palermo, Natalia Vodianova, Bianca Brandolini D’Adda… I don’t need to run after them to take another pictures of their style. Enough photographers chase them. The huge amount of street style photographers and their harassing behaviours create lost of time tension and stress. What interests me now is to show you how these situations, how theses adorable women react to these crazy situations and how I can in the same time reveal their beauty. It’s very challenging but very exciting from an artistic and journalistic point of view. Life is as beautiful as you want to see it and make it beautiful. Lots of people have an inner beauty that I want to reveal bettre than their shoes. We live once, let’s live wise !
This pictures are a tiny sample fo my 2000 daily pictures. I will post them during the week and I hope that you will love what you’ll see. I did my best and will do my best to capture great moments of fashion week history.
I thank you all the women from fashion that love my work and help me to humanize fashion. Their smile will always be their most beautiful outfit for me. See you tomorrow. And you dear readers and fans, I invite you to share these moments of history because this year will certainly be my last year attending the fashion week.
