Dear Milla. I hope you are well and more happy and in love than ever. Do you remember the first time we met at Paris fashion week, in sept. 2008 ? I was just starting Style and the City, I was just starting taking pictures for the first time in my life with an old camera that I could barely use correctly. My pictures and even my blog at that time were crappy at that time. LOL.
But I was driven by a purpose, by a mission : I wanted to humanize fashion, to capture sweet moments that will reveal people’s inner beauty. I was attending Nina Ricci’s fashion show, near Eiffel Tower. Then I saw you. I didn’t saw the movie star, I saw the woman in love, hand hold by her beloved husband. I did my best to capture that love, I didn’t stopped you. I think that I only smiled to you because I didn’t want to make you feel that I was a paparazzi. And then you smiled to me. At that point you have no idea how you helped me to shape the kind of photographer I would become : not a fashion photographer, not a street style photographer, not a paparazzi, but a humanist street style photographer. A photographer who will capture real life’s natural beauty. It was the the last fashion show of the day, the twilight was about to come, but you managed to brighten my evening with your smile.
It was 5 years ago. Now, the insane amount of photographers makes it impossible for stars and stylish people to walk peacefully without being stopped every 10 seconds. Natural sweet moments can’t be any more. That’s why I will stop attending Fashion weeks next year to focus on developing the next chapter of Style and the City. A chapter that you will love because you will help me to humanize fashion in a very funny and innovative way. But Chuuuuut. Let me surprise you. Stay tuned Milla. Meanwhile, have a great and lovely day and see you soon.
