Hi everybody. It’s a exhausted but very happy humanist photographer that you will read today. WHY am so happy ? Because I enjoy every moments where I am not surrounded by an insane amount of greed street style photographers. And when I enjoy these moments of peace, magic can finally happen.
For those who attended this New York Fashion week, you’ve seen how scary it is to see Lincoln Center totally filed with photographers : former and new comers, pro and amateurs, young and elderly : be careful young guys ! Pops and moms have decided to do street style photography now. LOL. They don’t rush as fast as you but they still screw my pictures by behaving erratically. LOL.
How I get my zen back ? By simply walking away from these crazy people and letting my heart guide my steps. Yesterday, I don’t know why my heart told me to stay a little bit longer, to not go home right away to edit the thousands pictures I took. My brain told to my heart that it was too dark to take pictures, that Kamel don’t like to use flash. But my heart told to my brain to simply enjoy the night and to embrace its mood. My heart always know how to convince my brain. So I deiced to buy an ice cream and to breath the mood of New York by night. But at some point, I was so exhausted that I had to leave. I was packed with my 2 cameras. I walked on Broadway to reach Columbus Circus when suddenly my night became day. An angel right in front of me was brightening my night like never before. Suddenly, all the frustration and anger caused by greed street style photographers that screwed my pictures were gone. I felt light.
I softly approach the girl and kindly asked if I could take pictures of her while she orders her sandwich. She laugh because she was french and my accent was… funny. I told her that I would try to capture her mood, her natural charm and that she has nothing special to do for me, just to be herself. She smiled and I stepped back. Let the magic speak !
Working without greet street style photographers around me is a totally different experience. the mood is cooler, more relax. Women are not stressed by these photographers. When they feel that you have not a greed purpose, the relationship is totally different and women give you as much as you give them. Respect and love them and they will respect and admire you. This adorable girl happened to be a young model that just left Paris to move in New York. Melie, I wish you all the success you deserve. If you need my help, let me know.
It was a nice and respectful encounter like I love. But as it often happens when I start a conversation with a pretty girl, it attracts curious and often stupid people that start to bother her, me. A guy arrived and start to propose her to model. Melie politely told him to contact her agency but the guy wouldn’t understand. I could see Melie struggling as she was in a hurry. I had to stop the man and tell him : “Mister, she is a professional model, you ‘ll have to contact her agency, not her personally”. Finally he understood and let Melie alone. I can’t imagine what all pretty women go through during their day and whole life. That’s why men should show more respect to women, all women.
For all the persons I took in picture, just be patient few days. I have amazing pictures of you and you’ll wont be disappointed. And for you dear readers, you’ll be surprise how knowing that it’s my last fashion week ever make me more creative. See you very soon…
