Hi everybody. I hope you had a great week and that you will enjoy your week end. My last New York fashion week was as usual featuring hundreds of stylish, glamorous women. As it was my last one, I did my best to capture sweet moments that would reveal women’s natural glamor. Because I love women from an artistic point of view and because I was a former TV video reporter, I love to understand what makes a woman so sexy. When I see a women, I don’t see a coat rack like so many street style photographers do, but expressions, curves, attitudes, movements, emotions. I watch carefully how these different elements combine all together to create (or not) glamor, sex appeal, a beautiful feeling that stay beyond the blog. In addition, I analyze the background and the situation to not only take a beautiful “postcard” but also to write on the go a “short movie”. What I learnt over 6 years of humanist street style photography is priceless. You have no idea how much beauty can emerge from a woman when you know how to watch her walking, talking, checking inside her bag of just having a phone call. Since the birth of Style and the City, 6 years ago, I made my goal clear : I will not consider women as coat racks but as a elements that can turn into artwork. I consider my art like painting and women being its beautiful colors. And together we write a beautiful story like in my musical slideshows. And this sample of my first New York fashion week day is just a tiny sample of my 1200 daily pictures.
What makes a photograph great ? The fact that once you swift off your laptop, emotion remains in your heart. The fact that you bring with you that emotion in your personal life, the fact that this emotion might help you to feel better or take action to have a better life, is what matters to me. Not showcasing bags and shoes in order to sell easily that kind of pictures to magazines, websites… I want to earn money of course, but under my conditions : by helping others.
That’s why, while street style photographers were chasing high heels and bags at Lincoln Center, I decided to surprise this adorable couple. I will not tell you what I told them to get to that result because I want you to experiment that by yourself. take your camera and go out ! Try to take pictures of lovers, try to make your readers loving them. Not only you’ll learn about others but you’ll learn about yourself too. Love is a wonderful feeling. Until you find your true love, you can still be happy by loving people, even if you don’t know them. We all need love and feel loved, liked, respected. Love people and see what will happen. Our happiness are connected believe me, and people that will like you will offer you more happiness than a bag. Enjoy your photoshoot my friends and don’t forget to be in love with LIFE.
PS : special thank to the adorable little girl behind the couple that sweetly photobombed the moment. Haha. I just realized her presence.
